New Frightened Rabbit Single: Swim Until You Can’t See Land
Frightened Rabbit’s The Midnight Organ Fight was one of my favorite albums of 2008. I had a chance to see them here in Brooklyn last year as well, and they were absolutely charming. Perhaps one of the most humble bands I’ve ever seen take the stage in front of a packed house. Their next album, The Winter of Mixed Drinks, is due out in March. Here’s the first single off the album.

Childhood Fears Recreated as Phot–AHH!!

Photographer Joshua Hoffine uses friends and family members as actors to recreate terrifying archetypes of childhood fear. I for one hope these images propel Mr. Hoffine into wealth so he can pay the psychiatric bills of his innocent young subjects.

Addendum: Kudos to Clinton for bringing to my attention the recently-released MGMT video for “Kids,” which is both thematically and visually similar.
Walking Around In Our Summertime Clothes
The new video for Animal Collective‘s “Summertime Clothes” features both drug-induced zaniness and the Brooklyn-based FLEX dance crew. (Be sure to watch it in HD.) As for the song itself, it’s yet another reason Merriweather is the year’s most acclaimed album so far.
