This screaming match between two Talking Carl iPhone apps is unexpectedly hilarious.
John Lennon is Hocking Laptops
So I was just sitting here, enjoying my second cup of delicious coffee on my day off and watching a little TV when the ghost of John Lennon popped up on the screen to remind how important it is to buy laptops. At first I thought, there’s a rational explanation for this. I’m probably just having a stroke. So I squeegeed the coffee off my computer screen and did a little googling.
Are you jaggin’ me, One Laptop Per Child? Did you learn nothing when David Spade resurrected Chris Farley for a check from Direct TV? Cripes. Well, I guess if nothing else, at least it will remind people for a few minutes that the failed One Laptop Per Child project still exists. Yeesh.
I wonder if it costs more to do crappy CGI with old Lennon footage or to hire Paul Rudd?
Between Two Ferns with Conan and Andy
I love that Conan is still up for doing stuff like this.
Valley Lodge – All of My Loving
Comedian Dave Hill isn’t just one of the funniest, most bizarre variety show hosts in New York City. He’s also the lead singer of the power pop band Valley Lodge. Here’s the video for their new single, All of My Loving.
From Wikipedia:
Valley Lodge came together when John Kimbrough, former singer-guitarist for Minnesota power pop band Walt Mink, met up with comedian/musician Dave Hill (formerly a member of bands such as Cobra Verde, and Sons of Elvis) to compare the home demos they were working on.
Joined by bass player/singer Phil Costello (Satanicide, Tragedy), and drummer Rob Pfeiffer (Sense Field) and inspired by bands such as Cheap Trick, The Raspberries, Thin Lizzy and Big Star they released their eponymous debut in 2005. The album proved particularly popular in Japan even getting a re-release with bonus tracks in 2008. The band went on to tour there in March 2009.

From the live/literary/online treasure of humanity, Mortified, a 15-year old’s screenplay is read before a live audience 20 years later with hilarious results:
Actors Elijah Wood, James Denton, Busy Phillips, Kevin McDonald and Curtis Armstrong help Jason Smith fulfill his dream and bring a 20 year-old screenplay to life.
“There are worse ways to spend a day,” indeed.

Zach Galifianakis in the New York Times

The Times ran a great profile of comedian Zach Galifianakis to coincide with his new film, The Hangover.
From the article:
“When you go from having your own talk show to doing stand-up in a bowling alley,” he said finally, “you can react by getting mad or depressed, or by just going away, like people expect you to.” He took in a slow, thoughtful breath. “I reacted by growing my beard.”
Don’t forget to watch the video while you’re at it.
