Mister Rogers Defends PBS to the US Senate
In 1969, after his show had been on the air for less than two years, Mister Rogers spoke to the US Senate to defend PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, both of which were facing massive budget cuts proposed by President Nixon in order to continue funding the Vietnam War.
