Kirk Mastin’s Portrait of the Oregon Coast
Kirk Mastin’s blog Lo Fi, Hi Style is a personal favorite and a must-read for anyone interested in the future of media. In this video–shot almost exclusively with a Flip video camera–Kirk creates a moving visual love letter. It’s beautiful.
This video introduced me to the Fly Away Tigers when I first watched it a few months back. They’re now one of my favorite bands. Download their album, released under a Creative Commons license, for free here.

Thanks for posting this!
I made this over a year ago after going on my first date away from Seattle with my then new girlfriend Robin.
It was in Oregon that I first told her I loved her. I was quite nervous.
A year and a half later we are getting married.
The love letter worked.
When I went to make this video all the pieces came together. I don’t think it would have had the same raw feeling if I had shot it with my best gear.
The flip Video (and similar cameras) have many drawbacks.
However, those drawbacks are outweighed by the fact that you can shoot real life as it happens. You can have it with you all the time.
Great website by the way. You have found so many interesting things. It’s not easy to sort through the noise to get good stuff.
I’ve got some cool things coming, keep chekcing back. I trying to get a million projects done at once
